VMP E34: Close Encounters of the Extra Terrestrial

We're back, sans our residential hot-taker, and we bring you two Spielberg movies that will take you out of this world! This week, Todd and Josh sit down and parse through two of Spielberg's best with Richard Dreyfuss and Close Encounters of the Third Kind and Drew Barrymore's loveable Gert in E.T. The Extra Terrestrial!

First, we begin by catching up with you and each other before diving into our newly christened and revamped segment, aptly titled, "What's on your beak?". We each throw out several things that have been on our radar within the past week or so and shoot the shit, all while having an in depth conversation.

Finally, we get down to brass tacks and celebrate the 40th anniversary of Close Encounters of the Third Kind. Todd and Josh sit back and discuss how different a film that movie truly is, especially for its time. We talk about its cultural impact and how that movie sticks with you, even after the credits roll. Next, we dive head first into ET the Extra Terrestrial! We touch on how Spielberg truly has a knack for bringing the child-like wonder that Elliot and Co. experience in the movie, to the real life audience viewer. It truly is a match-up of the ages. Tune in to find out which movie edges out the other!

As always, you can leave a comment below to let us know what your thoughts are on this discussion or email us at Versusmoviepodcast@gmail.com. We plan to return next week with-- you guessed it-- yet, another banger of an episode. Next week, we pit neo-nazis and Nazis together when we discuss Schindler's List and American History XIt's going to be a match-up you won't want to miss!
